Turning paths that lead me away.
Take me to a home where I can stay.
Give me a place where my head may lie.
Let my thoughts seep out of my mind.
Fulfill the need that begs for rest.
Be gone all feelings of inner stress.
To experience sweet freedom in the form of sleep.
My eyes are closed, bruised, and unable to weep.
My breathing not even as my lungs are inflamed.
My tired body not able to wake.
A thirst for water is an unquenchable need.
But my arms and hands can no longer reach.
My lips too dry to move to speak.
If only I could find sweet peace.
